Objectives

a) Basic experimental research: the determination - in the Group's Research Laboratory, or in other national or foreign Laboratories with which we have maintained stable collaborations for more than 20 years - of the equilibria between Liquid-Vapor (VLE), Liquid-Liquid (LLE) and Solid-Liquid (SLE) phases, and of the thermodynamic properties of energy equilibrium (enthalpies, heat capacities, ... ), thermal (densities, compressibility coefficients, ...) and transport (viscosities, ...), of all types of binary or multicomponent mixtures or alloys.

b) Basic theoretical research: the modeling of the experimental results obtained and of many others that appear in the literature, in order to understand the microscopic inter and intramolecular interactions that occur within mixtures and alloys; mainly using the DISQUAC model, in whose development we have collaborated decisively and we are internationally recognized experts. Also, and in the longer term, to apply the knowledge obtained in order to model the behavior of substances of biological and environmental interest (basic molecules that make up DNA, new fuels, ...), or other types of new materials.

c) Applied research: the use of the Group's experimental resources and, in general, of all the basic research carried out to improve all kinds of processes of industrial interest (new design gasolines, prediction of the solubility of polymers from the basic units that form them, ...), to collaborate in the reduction of the polluting effects that some of these processes produce in the environment (improvement effects when changing the type of solvent, or the temperature and pressure conditions at which it is used, ...), as well as to characterize the performance of new materials.

d) Training of researchers: GETEF is a research group that not only has a research capacity (as justified by the more than 100 articles published in internationally recognized journals since its foundation), but also a training capacity. This is evidenced by the number of undergraduate, graduate, Master and PhD students that continuously join the group. This is something that we believe is worthy of note since, above all, we are teachers and, as such, we must also dedicate time to teaching our students how to do research.
